Introduction to Venetian Tuscany!

Join us in Montepulciano, just outside Siena, for "Tuscany: A Journey of the Senses", a full week-long program of arts, culture, fine dining, and Italian plaster training. Learn to apply Venetian Plaster during the half-day sessions and enjoy your afternoons on guided tours of Florence and its environs.

 Montepulciano, April 9-16, 2011

Montepulciano: Take a quintessentially Italian decorative art form - Venetian Plastering, a group of international students and professionals eager to master its techniques on a project in Italy, and ample opportunities for sight-seeing, wine-tasting, and experiencing life in the Italian countryside, and you have one of the most unique travel and learning vacations available today.

Experience the camaraderie and satisfaction of learning Venetian Plastering, not in a classroom setting, but "on the wall" - an actual Italian wall, that is -  building friendships and skills you can take home with you.

Veneshe provides all the essentials: multiple demonstrations and one-on-one oversight, all necessary materials, tools, and coaching and support to make you feel successful and confident enough to undertake projects at home or for clients. You'll learn application methods and techniques for three popular and distinct finishes: a rustic Tuscan finish, a classic Marmorino finish, and a polished Venetian plaster - Stucco Grasello finish.

The class days begin with optional morning yoga at 7, followed by breakfast and 3-4 hours of instruction and practice. After lunch, you are free to relax at the villa or join in touring or other activities.
Our class caters to curious, adventurous, lifelong learners. The learning is real world and practical. The training venues are homes and small businesses with appreciative owners. The decorative plaster work being done becomes the talk of the town. The camaraderie and teamwork that unites the class becomes an integral part of the experience.
Class size is intimate (five or six); the Italian plastering techniques taught become natural and ingrained. The Italian plasters, produced by one of the oldest and most well respected manufacturing facilities in Italy, are available to applicators in the United States, so Venetian plaster wall finishes mastered in Italy can be re-created upon return.
Accommodations are provided in a 16th century farmhouse nestled between woods and olive groves. The guest rooms are exquisitely furnished; each one has its own unique character and is named after one of the many artists who contributed to the rich cultural legacy of Montepulciano. The welcoming and comfortable accommodations at Poderi Monti provide a refined and relaxing setting for savoring Tuscany and immersing yourself in its art and culture, while participating in a restoration project on site.
